Brandon Gmelin Memorial Scholarships

Each year two Ridgefield High School graduating seniors will be awarded a scholarship. Those interested need to apply through the high school’s counseling department.

BG6 Annual Poker Tournament

The first annual BG6 Poker Tournament took place on December 6, 2025 at Fletcher Storage in Ridgefield, CT. Participants enjoyed a spirited game, with the championship going to Valerie Jensen. Carl Schmidt and Lee Preece finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

BG6 Annual Golf Outing

G-mel Speed School

This speed school was created to honor the legacy of Brandon Gmelin. Brandon was a three-sport varsity athlete, who was named All-FCIAC in both lacrosse and soccer, and also ran track in the winter. He was committed to play lacrosse at Dickinson college, and relentlessly worked on his speed and quickness utilizing drills his father passed on to him from his collegiate and professional football career. Participants in the speed school will work on their speed and agility in a fun and collaborative setting, and are also expected to celebrate their fellow participants victories as Brandon would.

Adopt-a-Street

The Brandon Gmelin Foundation has adopted two streets, North Street and Copps Hill Road, both in Ridgefield. A sign has been erected at each location. Volunteers interested in helping maintain the cleanliness of these two streets should reach out via email to brandongmelinfoundation@gmail.com.

RHS Business Dept: Sports Marketing Charity Event

The sports marketing class at Ridgefield High School conducted a charity tournament for students, teachers, and the Ridgefield Police Department. Participants competed in cornhole, ladderball, and Putt-putt. Sam Allen and Brian Knox claimed 1st place, followed by Joseph Sisca and Chris Colsey in 2nd, and Ryan Mullen and Chase LoGiudice in 3rd. At the students’ request, all proceeds benefitted the Brandon Gmelin Scholarship Fund.

Donations

The Brandon Gmelin Foundation donates a portion of funds to those in need. This year, clothing items and food were purchased and donated to the St. Mary’s Church of Ridgefield for distribution during their Midnight Run. In addition, a financial contribution was made to Covenant House, to provide support for homeless youths.

RHS Alumni Soccer Game

RHS Soccer Alumni Competed against the current RHS Varsity Soccer Team at Tiger Hollow Stadium. The Alumni team finished on top, and all proceeds benefitted the Brandon Gmelin Scholarship Fund.
